Bye Bye Boaz Myhill

It has been announced this evening that Boaz Myhill has joined West Brom for, yes you guessed it, "an undisclosed fee".  Probably in the region of £1.5m.

I would just like to put on record my appreciaton of the hard work and loyalty Boaz has shown in the Tigers colours over the years, and wish him all the best at West Brom.  Below are a selection of nostaligic clips. (Please note some of the song lyrics are a little explicit/offensive, so ensure you are over 16 before clicking, or turn the sound down!)

Sunderland 4 - 2 Hull City - Albufeira (Portugal)

Well, would you believe it!  The Tigers lose 4-2 in Portugal and a certain Mr Fraizer Campbell scores all four goals, and could have had 6 or 7!!!

Fraizer Campbell scored all four goals as Sunderland recorded a resounding victory over recently relegated Hull City on their pre-season tour in Portugal.

Sunderland started the quicker of the two sides and were in front within ten minutes. Midfielder Steed Malbranque played in Campbell and the he raced past the Hull defenders to squeeze the ball under Boaz Myhill.

The Black Cats continued to press but Hull were soon level after the referee gave Hull a bizarre penalty. Midfielder Richard Garcia pushed between Sunderland keeper Mignolet and defender Jones and shot wide but the referee deemed it to be a foul and Craig Fagan converted from the spot.

However the Premier league side replied immediately with a carbon copy of the first goal. Malbranque passed the ball to Campbell, who again beat the Tigers defence to slot the ball into the back of the net.

And Campbell completed his hat-trick just before the half-hour mark when he collected the ball from just outside the penalty area and unleashed a rocket of a shot that bounced of the far post, giving Myhill no chance in the Hull goal.

Hull were unable to cope with a brilliant Campbell display and he fired in his fourth of an outstanding first half when Malbranque turned provider again to loft the ball to the striker, who headed over the despairing Myhill into the net.

The second half was a much quieter affair, but Sunderland continued to dominate and Martin Whaghorn could have made it five, but substitute goalkeeper Matt Duke saved well to deny the youngster.

On 69 minutes, Darren Bent replaced four-goal man Campbell and could have increased Sunderland’s lead, only to see his shot sail just wide of the post.

Hull did manage to pull a goal back as Nick Barmby headed in as Mignolet missed a cross from Jamie Devitt, but Sunderland played out the final minutes comfortably and recorded a deserved win.

Huddersfield v Hull City - Friendly Cancelled

It has been announced today that our pre-season game at Huddersfield which was scheduled for July 28th has been cancelled.  This follows hotly on the heels of the cancelled game at Rotherham.  It would appear Nigel Pearson wants pre-season doing his way, regardless of the inconvenience caused to the other clubs, but who cares anyway, as long as everything is done to get the Tigers in peak condition!

North Ferriby United 0 - 6 Hull City

Welcome back to my blog, after the disapointment of our relegation last season and the shambolic World Cup, I have now got my football appetite back again!

A good performance by the Tigers at North Ferriby yesterday evening certainly showed a great deal of promise and wasn't it amazing to see Noberto Solano in a Hull City shirt!!

I have always admired Nobby, he seems to be a true old fashioned style pro, and I wish him well in what he says will be his last season.

The brief video below shows some of the goals from last nights game.
